Bexley Farmers' Market: October 10th

“What I stand for is what I stand on.”

Wendell Berry

Want to make more of the fresh food you eat? Here are three tips to improve the health and flavor of what you buy at the Bexley Farmers' Market!

1. Taste the Rainbow! Claim health benefits by buying deeply colored fruits and vegetables at the market.

2. Crunch, crunch, crunch. Shorten your cooking time and leave a bit crunch. For example, cut broccoli into egg-sized clumps and arrange them stem-side-down in a steamer basket over a pot of boiling water. Put on the lid, and set a timer for four minutes. Doing so will leave your broccoli rich in cancer-fighting bionutrients.

3. Smaller is better! New research shows that smaller varieties may be more nutritious. This is especially true for tomatoes--the smaller and darker red the tomato, the more lycopene it has per ounce.

Our food is more than fresh, it's better for you!
